As part of its commitment to promoting a culture of accountability and supporting the active participation of youth, the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) organized several reflection workshops from 12 to 17 December 2025 in Port‑au‑Prince and Cap‑Haïtien, focusing on the role of youth in the fight against impunity.
On 12 December, the first workshop in Port‑au‑Prince brought together young lawyers, academics, and civil society actors to discuss challenges related to impunity and identify concrete solutions. BINUH took this opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to encouraging youth participation in governance processes and promoting accountability within institutions.
In this framework, two additional workshops were held in the northern region to deepen discussions on local challenges and propose context-specific solutions. These sessions strengthened dialogue among young legal professionals, academics, and civil society actors, resulting in practical recommendations.
The workshops concluded in Cap‑Haïtien on 16 and 17 December, with concrete proposals including the establishment of local training programs, capacity building for judicial actors, and the development of targeted initiatives to combat impunity. Participants emphasized that youth engagement is a key driver for the sustainable strengthening of the rule of law in Haiti.
BINUH reiterates its commitment to continue supporting youth and all stakeholders involved in promoting a strong rule of law and equitable justice in Haiti.
