Closure of UNMIL

The United Nations Mission in Liberia was established in October 2003 to support for the implementation of a ceasefire agreement and peace process, and to assist with the maintenance and restoration of law and order throughout Liberia. The mission successfully completed its mandate on 30 March 2018.

<p style="text-align: justify;">On Monday 5 February morning, the United Nations Mission In Liberia held a ceremonial farewell to the Military and Police peacekeepers serving in Liberia. The Program was held at the forefront of the United Nations Mission Headquarters at the Pan African Plaza in Monrovia. In attendance was the SRSG, The President of the Republic of Liberia, UNMIL Force Commander, UNPOL commissioner, diplomatic corps and many more. The historical event marked the lowering of the UN and National flags as well as presentation of flags to the Force Commander and Police Commissioner and Commanding Officers</p>
