The Indian troops recently donated forty textbooks to the Upper Nile University in Malakal, after the university suffered losses in clashes early this year.

Col Sameer Bhadauria, the Indian Battalion's Sector Commander for Malakal area presented the books, which covered the fields of veterinary medicine/surgery, animal production, genetics, physics, chemistry, zoology, botany and micro-biology, to Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr. Akoy Dual Akoy.
The donation also included books on Gandhian studies, which focused on the importance of truth, non-violence and national capacity building. A press released issued after the handover ceremony called the books relevant and applicable in Sudan's present-day scenario.
